One of my greatest joys when painting en plein-air in Michigan, is painting the lavender fields. I love standing amongst the lavender, surrounded by this un-imaginable beauty, listening to the bees doing their life’s work, and being surrounded by the perfume of fresh lavender!
Bohemian Lavender, near Maple City, is one of my newest discoveries.
Merlot Lavender
Michigan’s climate is conducive to growing many varieties of Lavender. Though not quite at the level of French or Italian lavender farms, the industry in this region has become plentiful. This little patch of lavender is in my own garden, much nurtured and loved.
